Justine aims to blur the lines between the classical and the contemporary in her performances, create a dialogue with her audiences, and keep classical music relevant in a modern-day world. Her versatile playing is reflected in her high demand for church recitals, commissions to premiere original music by living composers, and swift improvisations at open mic nights from New York to New Orleans; recently called "the best part of the night!" (Literary Hub).
Justine studied under Wendy Herbener Mehne at Ithaca College, where she completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Performance. She performs on a handcut Haynes Fusion (14k rose gold exterior, 95% silver/5% platinum interior, and 14k gold riser) headjoint and a handmade Haynes body finished in 2004.

Justine is currently accepting students with Spreading the Music in New Orleans, LA, with additional teaching availability at your home and via Skype.
Justine began her first flute lessons a few months after she picked up the flute to join her hometown’s middle school band program. Now, a decade and a half later, she can reflect and appreciate that it was incredibly helpful and instrumental to her development to take flute lessons with a specialized teacher outside of the band room setting.
She has been lucky to have taught both privately in Fairfield County, Connecticut and publicly in the Ithaca City School District, and she is delighted to be offering lessons in New Orleans at Spreading the Music, and remotely via Skype. She provides a tailored approach to each and every child, adolescent, and adult.
Everyone's first lesson is free! To schedule your first lesson and to inquire about rates and lesson policies, please see the Contact page to reach Justine.
